Object Description
In June, 1860, two gas balloons with the flags of Japan, America and England were launched from Philadelphia to fly to NY to celebrate the opening of Japan. Yoshitora has quaintly relived the scene in several triptychs, always getting the setting wrong. He might have based the buildings on a picture of India rather than that of the US.
