Object Description
Color woodblock print with an image of a figure approaching the gate to a house, which is seen to the right. The viewer can see the interior of the house, where two women are seen. In Act IX Tonase, standing at right, despairs of her daughter's failed marriage arrangements and plans to kill herself and Konami, seated beside her. Konami had been betrothed to Yuranosuke's son, but because of the vendetta, Yuranosuke's wife told Tonase that her husband Honzo had disgraced their family and Konami is no longer worthy of her son. Honzo stands outside the gate in disguise, playing a flute.
