Female tomb figure of earthenware clay, with traces of paint and slip. The figure wears a high-waisted striped skirt topped by a long-sleeved bodice with a low neckline. A long stole worn off she shoulder is draped over her arms which are clasped together at her waist. He hairstyle is an ornate and elegant upsweep. The figure is accompanied by a wooden base with a label that reads: "Princess, Wei period."
"The mingqi (spirit articles) were a prominent feature of Chinese mortuary pottery made for special groups of people at special times. No surprisingly, therefore, over time the subject matter changed to reflect current fashions, interests, and concerns.
