Written in pencil on the outside of the scroll: U.C. '43 Traded 2/73 RBP MM Pettus. Ch'ing Hua Yuan.

Marks
Signature and square red ink seal along the right edge, in the lower area. Three red seals below this, in the lower left. Five lines of text along with a square red seal are in the upper right.

Medium
Blue, green, and red paint and black ink brushed and washed onto silk, with an ivory and pale aqua silk brocade mounting.

Object Description
Large vertical hanging scroll of a landscape with mountians and trees, and a house in the central plane. A male figure can be seen in the interior of the residence. Three people are pictured below (scholars?) in the lower left. One sits on the edge of a hill above the water. Two men are behind him, one with a staff and one with a box.
