Commentary
This striking triptych depicts the Bodhisattva of wisdom, Monju, flanked by lions which he rides in mythology. The artist, Kano Tanyu, was one of the foremost painters in the esteemed Kano school, and was particularly known for his ink paintings, which are often compared to Tosa school works.
