Brown and white silk with gold and silver brocading.

Object Description
Rectangular shawl of brown and white silk with a finely banded field and wider end band with gold and silver brocaded motifs on a red ground.

Songket cloths were used for public perfomances or displays of wealth and status. It is an esoteric kind of textile from the island of Bali and also known as a Sembiran cloth for the village on Bali where it originates.
