Commentary
Honoring the firemen of district six: A set of ten prints depicts the standards for the fire districts of Tokyo, the names of the neighborhoods are lsited behind the standardbearer. Such print sets were probably ordered by the firemen to commemorate an event and to build morale. The heroic fireman here certainly looks vigilant.

On mat, in pencil: Marer 378. Japanese text printed all over the image. Description on verso of mat. Signed: Oju Yoshitoshi hitsu. Censor's seal: Aratame and date (Ushi-ni) on single seal.
