Object Description
As evening begins to fall, four children are playing outside a fenced compound by casting shadows in the moonlight. The pudgy boy in a light-weight cotton robe (yukata) seems almost surprised by his hand shape on the ground. While his two older sisters look on, his younger sibling seems happy just to be carried piggyback. This is a delightful twilight scene, as children enjoy the lengthening days of summer, and could be seen in city streets and village roadways throughout Japan - an image that transcends location but celebrates the joys of childhood.
