Object Description
"Set in a peach orchard, this print shows the Chinese figures Gentoku (right panel, played by Arashi Rikaku), Kan-u (middle panel, played by Onoe Tamizo) and Chohi (left panel, played by Ichikawa Sadanji). The depiction of Chinese figures in this print is one example of the portrayal of foreign cultures on the kabuki stage. In The History of the Three Kingdoms in China (220 BC), Gentoku becomes emperor Chao Lieh of Shoku."
