Commentary
Genji Monogatari (The Tale of Genji), Vol. I, "Kiritsubo": She was Prince Genji's mother who passed away when Genji was three years old. Later, Genji, though married to Aoi-no-ue, fell in love with a beautiful court lady, Fujitsubo, who was the doppelganger to Kiritsubo.
