Object Description
A portrait of the stage actress Ruth St. Denis, in "The Yogi". Although "The Yogi" was perceived by most audiences as intensely beautiful, some spectators took offense at St. Denis' sheet costume and bare feet. Never willing to confine herself to what society considered acceptable, St. Denis often performed dances that incorporated erotic appear in their controversial costumes and techniques.
