Commentary
Illus: Obsession p. 53 "Perhaps due to his isolation, Levinstein was drawn to crowds. However, it was scenes of solitude and isolation in public spaces he especially gravitated toward, as in Coney Island.
While physically close, there is a wary tone emitting from the three subjects. The faces of the three young men fill the frame, but they are disconnected from one another, gazing in separate directions, each in their own world. At the same time, shadow and light paint the forms of the three subjects, suggesting a feeling of connection, if only spatially."
