Commentary
The compositional acumen Bing displays in Rocky Shoreline is typical of much of her work outdoors during the mid-to-late 1930s. Here, Bing makes full use of simple but effective framing to capture the best wide-angle view of the wind- and wave-swept outcropping. The dark, craggy features of the rock formations at left harmonize with the view of the cloudy sky and choppy sea that she has selected. Liam Machado, La Verne University
