Commentary
From the series, "Ima Genji Nishiki-e Awase" ("The Color Print Contest of the Modem Genji").
Chapter 41, "Maboroshi" (Illusion). Prince Genji is looking at the homing wild geese in the moonlit
evening.
The Tale of Genji is the master literature of the intrigue and human drama of the ancient Heian court
which has inspired numerous literature and art works in the subsequent generations. The novel was
historically enjoyed by the picture format of individual chapters accompanied with the texts.
