Object Description
Ninteenth century Japanese color woodblock print of a full length portrait of the poet Otomo no Kuronushi, standing beside a stream, with a baby pine. The court poet Kuronushi (active in the late 9th-early 10th c.) is less known for his poems than for being proven a forger by Ono no Komachi. The emperor forgave him his zealous urge to always be best, and he was later identified as one of Japan's 6 Immortal Poets (Rokkasen), along with Komachi.

Publisher
Fujiokaya Hikotaro.
