Early to mid-19th century Japanese color woodblock print depicting a bridge over a waterfall between green hills.
At Nojiri, torrents cascade beneath a bridge famous for framing with its undersurface an imaginary view of Mt. Fuji. Eisen's landscapes lack the consummate draftsmanship of Hokusai and the masterful moods of Hiroshige, but at their best they offer a fresh and untrammeled view of otherwise familiar scenes. (R.
