Object Description
Ninteenth century Japanese color woodblock print of a night scene with a flock of geese flying in front of a half moon, and figures crossing the embankment between vender's stalls.
"A half-moon lights up the causeway leading to the Yoshiwara across the rush-swamps, yellow booths at each side and crowds passing. Roofs appear in the distance through the grey and purple mists in the deepening shadows of nightfall; flight of geese across the sky and moon. A very fine moonlight effect.” (Source: Basil Stewart, p.175)
