From “Taihaido kaihan (on the left margin), this print is the first edition, the first impression.

Object Description
Color woodblock print with an image of falling snow on Asuka Mountain. View of a sloping hill-side dotted with cherry trees; at the bottom of the slope runs a road leading to a village street ahead, along it plod wayfarers, one leading a packhorse, through the deep snow. This is the only snow scene know to the writer (but he believes there are others) in which the falling flakes of snow are indicated with a pigment (made from white-lead), instead of the natural white of the paper itself, with the result that they are now black owing to chemical decomposition.
