Object Description
Chinese Manchurian style man's jifu (semi-formal court costume). The coat is an early 18th century style, but was made later (c. 1890-1910). It is a good example of retro-style court attire, and was probably made for domestic use in the 19th century. The coat is sapphire blue, with typical decoration of three dragons and clouds, and muti-colored wavy lines along the lower edge. The sleeves are of the same material as the coat, and have a slight flare to the cuffs. The lining is of gray silk.
