Object Description
Japanese cloisonné plate with decorations of birds, pink and white flowers and butterflies executed in multicolored enamels against a black background. The plate appears to be a product of the "Shippo" (name given to cloisonné, meaning seven treasures) workers of the mid to later 19th century. There is also a multicolored stylized floral border, and the bottom is decorated in turquoise enamel around curling gold cloisons, with glossy turquoise enamel in the foot.
