Multicolored enamels (primarily dark red-copper) on a copper base.

Object Description
Large, tall, cylindrical Japanese jar with flattened sides to form a six-sided vessel. The jar is decorated in dark red-copper toned enamel work, with a motif of birds and flowers in multicolored enamels. There is yellow glossy enamel on the bottom of the jar and on the interior of the neck. The cloison wires are very thin, and all metal surfaces are covered with enamel, except where damage has occured.
