Carved light beige sandstone, with gray paint.
Object Description
The head of a smiling Buddha, carved of light beige sandstone with dark flecks. The Buddha is decorated with a spiral emblem on his forehead, and has a top knot hairstyle. He displays the Buddhist emblems of the Thunderbolt (vajra) and Wheel of the Law. There appears to have been a dot on the forehead, but it is very faint. The hair is painted gray, but very faded. The head is mounted on a wood and plaster base.
