Pedestal Piece (907), 1990
Low Fire Salt Fuming
27 in. x 30 in. x 11 in. (68.58 cm. x 76.2 cm. x 27.94 cm.)
"Pedestal Piece (907), 1990, features Soldner's more recent low-fire work. Slab-built sections are added in layers to create a vessel balanced on top of a precariously small base. The layered components are torn and assembled into a finished product unified by color and profile. While still adhering to the formality of the vessel, the work shows Soldner's desire to explore ambitious sculptural concerns."
(Martha Drexler Lynn, Revolution in Clay, 1994, pg. 101)
