Commentary
"In the piece Drink Me, Rothman moves toward organic abstraction. Purchased from the artist by [Fred] Marer before Rothman joined a gallery, the work sports sexual organs of all types (a vulva form flanked by breasts form the lower half). The loosely rendered and rounded forms presage the organic abstraction movement of the late 1980s."
(Martha Drexler Lynn, Revolution in Clay, 1994, pg. 102)

Medium
Stoneware, fired to cone 5, with cone 5 glazes (partially glazed); wheel thrown. Sand and frit and glaze stains.

Object Description
Sculptural vessel with appliqued clay parts; rough female form with breasts and hands, in yellow, pink, blue, with black outlines. Part of Rothman's Baroque series of Western Baroque pots. This is one of the first two that he made.
