Commentary
"The bowl is an important example of her work from this time, the glaze producing 'surfaces like glazed and polished stones.' The simple forms of both this bowl and the earlier teapot [L78.1.387] indicate Andreson's interest in Scandinavian design. The use of narrow, vertical stripes to enhance the bowl's shape demonstrates her knowledge of Japanese ceramics, specifically of Tamba stoneware, a Japanese folk pottery known for its simple shapes and similarly placed, painted vertical stripes."
