Object Description
Showa period color woodblock print of the actor Ichikawa Danjuro sitting on a white horse holding a spear decorated with a dragon head in his right hand. In Kan U, Kagekiyo, a Japanese general, assumes the identity of Kan U, a Chinese military hero, so that he can reveal the nefarious plot hatched by a general who takes the identity of a different Chinese military figure. The exotic costumes and settings possible in this production made it a popular kabuki play.
