Object Description
Color woodblock print with an image of two men in Japanese kimono. The two youthful fishermen look out to sea, content with the day's catch. They seem proud and confident in their festive kimono, awarded to them for hard work. The image of Mt. Fuji in the background gives a nationalistic overtone to this celebration of manhood and productivity. Jacoulet may have produced this print in 1939 to increase sales among Japanese collectors at a time of financial hardship for foreign artists in Tokyo; two editions were published with a total of about 350 impressions.
