Object Description
4-tiered inro with imagery of a chained boat as well as plum, bamboo and iris, copper red and faded black lacquer, wheat colored silk cord, metal ojime shaped like vase. The design is based on textile patterns.
The sides of this inro depict plum and bamboo and then iris and plum imagery on the opposing side. The bamboo and plum imagery relate through being two out of the three friends of winter in Chinese symbolism, that being the pine, plum, and bamboo. Together they are symbols of longevity, and they are a very popular motif.
