Object Description
3-tiered literati-style inro with flowers and tree imagery, geometric pattern on ojime, and large flower katabori netsuke. Flowers carved in relief painted in gold and red with dark stained wood inro. The design is most likely based from a Chinese pattern book.

This is a rare matching inro ensemble with chrysanthemum’s (kiku) symbolizing long life and integrity, as is in Chinese tradition associated with elderly gentlemen living in seclusion (Goodall, 317).
