Commentary
National Treasure; this is a transcription of Buddhist Sutra on Fan-Shaped sheet. The Buddhists believed the end of the world was coming at the end of the Heian period (794-1185 A.D.) While the piece was originally created in 900 A.D., this woodblock version was most likely created in the 1960s - 1970s.
The print is stored in the original decorative folder. The work was printed using ten to twenty color blocks.
