This bamboo painting in the style of Zheng Xie, one of the so-called Eight Eccentrics of Yangzhou of the 18th century, was done by the 19th-early 20th century painter Zhang Qi. Zhang Qi was best known as an illustrator, along with Wu Youru, for the serial pictorial, Dianshizhai huabao. Another fine example of literati style bamboo painting in the Scripps collection.
