The signature is by an unknown artist of the Qing dynasty named Wu Yuyi. Moreover, the inscription says that the painting was done in the style of the early Ming bamboo painting specialist Xia Chang (1388-1470) for a person with the sobriquet Fuwengnian on a date that could be either 1768, 1828 or 1888. It is an excellent literati style bamboo painting on satin.
