Commentary
This is a nice example of 16th eagle painting, a genre made popular by the fifteenth century artist, Lin Liang, probably done by a lesser follower.

Two small square red ink seals in the lower left - Wang Yin Tao Heng (the seal of Wang Tao Heng, Sung Master), and Tu Yin Yuna Mei. Two small square red ink seals in the upper right - Shou, Hsing (seal of the Emperor Kao Tsung of the Sung Dynasty, used for sealing the painting). A round red ink Imperial seal (Ch'ien Lung Yu Lan Chih Pao - the seal of the Emperor's inspector) is stamped at the upper edge of the painting, just right of center. Signed Shin Ch'ung on the trunk of the tree at the lower right. Five seals are in the lower right - Tien Shu (the pseudonym of Lan Ying, Ming artist), Fan Ch'ien (the pseudonym of Kung Hsien), Sung Shih x Chih, Pi Yun, and one indistinct.

Faint paint (white, pink, yellow and green) and ink on silk, with a pink and off-white silk brocade mounting.

Object Description
Vertical hanging scroll of a eagle in a tree with a crane in it's claws. There are smaller birds in the tree, and some willow-type branches and blossoms. The painting represents the receipt of the emolument and rank (the eagle represents the character 'yin g,' to receive. The egret represents the emolument and rank.
