Object Description
Print 6 of 6 from William Hogarth's series "Marriage a la Mode" (1743), which satirizes the upper and middle classes, especially the folly of arranged marriages. The original paintings hang in the National Gallery, London. In this print, the Countess has taken laudanum and poisoned herself after the hanging of her lover for the death of the Earl.
