Commentary
Seventeen fans decorate the six gilded panels of this screen, and each fan depicts a scene from "The Tale of Genji." Several of the panels are decorated with grass along the bottom of the screens.

Object Description
Fan made from strips of bamboo and paper. There is a tiny plastic rod holding the bamboo strips together at the base. There is a tiny plastic rod holding the bamboo strips together at the base. The paper is off-white, and the scene depicting a pine-branch is painted in brown, black, green, and gray. The scene is only on one side. There are black characters painted on the upper right side of the frame.
