hand-colored albumen print
Unlike most of the works in the album, this is a vertical composition. It is a studio image. Two women in traditional dress stand in the foreground, on what appears to be a path. Behind them, there is a painted backdrop depicting Mt. Fuji, trees, and some very rustic buildings with conical roofs. The women wear wooden sandals and bright kimonos, with jackets. Their clothing is in a variety of colors and patterns: florals, checks, and stripes. Each wears a white scarf on her head. The woman on the left smokes what appears to be a cigarette in a long black holder. The woman on the right holds a parasol. Both gaze to the viewer's left.
