Coil-built and burnished terracotta pot, with an orange slip and a design in black and red paints.

Object Description
Pre-conquest Mayan terracotta turtle effigy bowl, with a flattened bulbous body rising to a short cylindrical neck. The surface is decorated with cream, red, and black slip painting of seated figures, and the rim with gylphs and masks. There are protrusions in the clay to form the turtle's head, tail, and flippers, on the front and back of the pot.
