Commentary
"As a figure, Walking Man would seem to be an anomaly in Voulkos's early work because since the 1970s his forms have been dominated by stack pots, plates, and ice buckets. But the figure is an early and enduring theme in his art: it appears clearly in the clay assemblages of the late 1950s, and in his small bronze sculptures of the early 1960s such as Bather [1960, bronze]." Object Description
Sculptural form of a man with three legs and a rough slab for a head. White slip, and red, yellow, black and blue glazes decorate the piece.
