Listed in the 1975 accession record as "Three piece Japanese gold lacquer writing table, ink-stone, and brush box, and a document or letter box."

No marks on the piece. The storage box has a strip of paper with kanji glued to it's side.

Carved wood with copper and gold flecked lacquer and cast metal (copper and silver) decoration.

Object Description
Rectangular writing desk with four low decoratively carved feet. There is cast floral decoration on the exteriors of the feet, and on the top edges of the shorter ends of the table. The same decoration covers the top of the table, and consists of fourteen solid flowers and seven in outline only. The desk is finished in a thick lacquer toned with gold and copper. Brass plates decorate the four sides along the upper edge, and line the lower edge of the feet. There are plates of silver metal with stamped floral decoration in the four corners and in the center of the top edge of the two longer sides of the desk.
