Object Description
Chinese long, rectangular shaped covered incense burner decorated with cloisonné and painted enamels. The removable lid is decorated with a cloisonné enamel design of two yellow dragons and a flaming pearl on a blue ground covered with coiled cloison clouds. The openwork body is decorated with painted enamels depicting pink, purple, and blue bats flying amongst the branches of lingzhi fungi. The interior of the box can hold two sticks of incense; when the lid is placed over the top, the incense smoke escapes from the openwork sides. Light turquoise enamel colors the box’s interior; white enamel covers the base. The box appears to be a product of the late 19th century.
