Commentary
Illustration for the novel "Demon Gold/Konjiki yasha" by Kawakami Bizan. "Mezame" (Awakening). Frontispiece illustration for a novel by Kawakami Bizan in Bungei Kurabu, which was a very popular literary magazine in Meiji era, Vol 4 no.10. A beauty in traditional kimono and a man wearing a hat and holding a western style umbrella. They are strolling under a blooming cherry tree.
