Commentary
From the series, "Ima Genji Nishiki-e Awase" ("The Color Print Contest of the Modern Genji"). Chapter 30, "Fujibakama". Prince Genji is trying to give Iris flower to a girl. The tale of Genji is the master literature of the intrigue and human drama of the ancient Heian court which has inspired numerous literature and art works in the subsequent generations.
