Yoshida’s contemporary woodcuts are a testament to the enduring legacy of the woodblock print, and elegantly illustrate the simultaneous softness and tension of rain. Yoshida is a fourth-generation artist, and Scripps College has pieces from each generation of the family.

She has experimented with silkscreen printmaking as well as woodblocks, and is perhaps best known for her repetitive, geometric prints, which she carves herself. It takes her between 1 week and 10 days to carve just one woodblock. Considering that each color on a print requires the carving of a separate woodblock, the dedication she has to her craft is clear.
