From the series, "Osaka Fukei," ("Scenery of Osaka"). Osaka Imperial University is the sixth oldest university in Japan. It was founded in 1869 as Osaka Prefectural Medical School. The school was later transformed into the Osaka Prefectural Medical College in 1919, and attained university status in 1930.

The index of the series notes, "The artist Rinsaku Akamatsu, an authority on Western-style painting in Japan, selected these 24 views of Osaka, known for their scenic beauty in Pre-War days."

2018.1.49, 2018.1.53, 2018.1.61, 2018.1.69 and 2019.1.29 are all part of this series.

The paper bears the artist's signature: "Rinsaku".
