Commentary
This piece is from the woodblock print series, "Shinkei," ("Scenery of the Mind"), No. 3, "So," ("Idea"). The artist stated, "I always have wanted to know what lives in the mind and what has been growing and expanding in the mind." The work was carved and printed in black-and-white by the artist on decorative Japanese paper. It is a limited edition, and was hand signed.
Marks
The work bears the artist's signature in pencil, in the margin, at the lower right: "Noriko. W" The work also bears the artist's seal on the lower left, in red. The edition number, in pencil, is to the right of the seal.
