Color woodblock print of a page from the series, "Eighteen Kabuki Plays," (Kabuki Juhachi Ban), which featured the famous eighteen plays of the Ichikawa family of Kabuki actors. Here, Ichikawa Danjuro is in the role of the hero Sukeroku in "Sukeroku." The border is "Mimasu-mon," the crest of Ichikawa Danjuro.
