Object Description
From the series, "Shin Nigao" (New Portraits). Kabuki actor Ennosuke is in the role of King Lear (top). Kabuki actor Tozo is in the role of priest Koku (bottom).

"Shin Nigao" was a short-lived magazine series started in 1915 for 5 issues. Several artists contributed to one or two prints for the series which showcased individual approaches to the traditional actor's portraits.
