Object Description
Horizontal color woodblock print depicting a scene from the Noh play, Michimori (Category 2 Warrior Play). A priest and his companion journey to Naruto in Awa, where he offers up prayers to the souls of the Heike warriors defeated at Ichi no Tani. He encounters an old fisherman and his wife, shown in the upper left of the print, who later reveal themselves as the ghosts of Taira no Michimori and his wife, Kozaisho no Tsubone. After Michinori dies at Ichi no Tani, his wife threw herself into the sea. The prayers of the priest now grants them salvation.
