Commentary
On the hottest days of summer, Noh theatre performers forego heavy costumes and masks, and come onstage wearing a lightweight kimono and trousers / hakama. In this print, one musician holds a large drum / ?tsuzumi on his left knee, another holds a small drum / kotsuzumi on his right shoulder, and the flutist plays a nokan.

Color woodblock print depicting a scene from a "hakama no." On the hottest days of summer, Noh theatre performers forego heavy costumes and masks, and come onstage wearing a kimono with a crest and a pair of trousers (hakama). These perfomances are thus called "hakama no."
