Commentary
Andy Warhol, a leading figure in pop art, created social commentary at the intersection of celebrity, advertisement and fine art. Tina Chow’s status and aesthetic made her a well-suited collaborator. Tina Chow was celebrated for her unique Eurasian beauty at a time when the modeling world was saturated with blonde socialites harkening back to Marilyn Monroe. She was the muse to many, including designer Yves St. Laurent, illustrator Antonio Lopez, and artist Andy Warhol, all of whom were intrigued by her androgynous, minimalistic approach to high fashion.
